Wednesday, August 19th (day 7)
Today was a great day on the trail. The terrain was less difficult today, and we hiked ahead of our scheduled campsite. We thought we were hiking 14 miles, but after doing the math, we had a 16 mile day. We did have to say goodbye to our friend, Special Agent, though. He hiked further to keep up with his AT thru hike goals. We are staying in the shelter tonight to allow the tent sites for a big school group.
Last night, hiker "Puffin" let me try out his hammock. Makes me interested in trying that out someday. Puffin is an ER trauma physician, and we had a great time talking last night.
Tonight there are several southbound thru hikers, and a couple with a dog who is also hiking north on the long trail. (Our steepest climb today)
Hello Passionflower,
ReplyDeleteAppears that you are having a good time on the trail and once again making plenty of new friends along the way. I have pulled out my pictures and notes and am following along, at least until the trail splits beyond Killington. Hopefully you will have better weather this time at Cooper Lodge.
Take care,
