Tuesday, August 18th (day 6)
We hiked out 10.1 miles today and arrived at Peru Peak Shelter. Special Agent is with us for a third night in a row, as well as several other nice hikers we just met. We hiked up Bromley mountain, which is a ski mountain with a (non running) lift at the top. We then hiked up Peru Peak. It was in the high 80's today, as well as the last few days. It's tough to climb in the heat. Zippy says this is a Vermont Indian summer. The temps are unusually high, but will probably only last a couple weeks. We are starting to see more rugged hiking, and expect it to only get more difficult. We are sleeping in the shelter tonight for lack of great tent sites. We have good company though. We had a lesson today from Special Agent about how to make a ramen bomb for dinner. There are just as many ways on the trail to make ramen as Bubba Gump can make shrimp.
