Countdown to Camino de Santiago!

There is a tent set up in my house. This can only mean one thing. One week today, I will be on my way to France! I am so excited, I can barely think. The other reason there is a tent set up in my house, is because Big Agnes is an amazing company, which I love. A couple weeks ago, I got my tent out, washed it, and re-waterproofed it. Once it was dry, I was about to pack it up, and noticed a small tear in my rain fly. The next morning I mailed it to Big Agnes, so they could repair it for me. A couple days later, I received an email that they were unable to repair it, so they were sending me back a brand new tent, instead. Wow!! So now I have a new tent. There are some slight changes. The tent color is orange and grey, rather than two toned orange. There are also two new mesh pockets at the top head of the tent. These will be handy! I am so happy to have a new tent that won't leak on my
head in the rain, but part of me is a little sad. My old tattered tent went through so much with me, it's kind of sad to see it go. Goodbye dear tent. I will always love you! Thanks, again, Big Agnes, for standing by your amazing equipment. I will always love you too.
My bag is packed with all the fun things I want to bring, and is only 20 lbs with a liter of water. (Patting myself on the back) I will be going through it over the next week to take out a few wants that I really don't need. I have an extensive wardrobe packed at the moment, and I know I should cut down. Sparky always teased me about how many clothes I carried in the AT. Part of me feels like I have to keep up on those wardrobe standards just to think about him shaking his head.
One new addition to my pack is my Juice Plus capsules.
I wonder if any other hikers will be getting 14 fruits and vegetables a day, like me. I'm excited to see how it helps. I wish I had something like this when I hiked the Appalachian Trail. (This is one of the reasons I decided to become a distributor)
Things that will not be in my pack are my water filter, cooking supplies, and lots of food. While hiking the Camino, fresh drinking water is plentiful, so I will not need to filter it. I will also be able to eat in the towns everyday, so I will only carry enough food for a day while hiking. This is the biggest reason my pack weight is much lighter. I carried a 35-38 lb pack on the AT. I have since upgraded some equipment, and my last AT hike was with a 27 lb pack. I am blessed to have a great friend who usually house-sits for me. She will be staying in my home for the 9 weeks I will be gone, taking care of my fur babies. Thanks Brooke!
Hopefully my Orange Theory workouts will pay off when I start hiking the Pyrenees Mountains. A couple weeks ago, I switched from jogging speed intervals to walking incline intervals. It has been a different and equally difficult workout! Thanks to the OTF staff for keeping me pumped up!!thanks to my Body Heat yoga instructors too. My hot yoga sessions have kept my muscles from being too tight, which I know will help prevent injuries while hiking. I'm ready!!!

  1. On the AT you had many people in the country following you. Now perhaps this will expand to an international event. One word of advice about your gear. The most important thing you can b take with you is something that will weigh the least, take the least space and yet be the most important and valuable to have, protect it dearly. Prayer. Looking forward to the reports, pictures etc. (Dad)

  2. It will be interesting to see how different this hike will be for you. I am sure there will be days of "This is nothing like the AT!" With a sad face. But also days of "This is nothing like the AT!" With a happy face!
